  • All About You was filmed in 28 days on location throughout Los Angeles, San Francisco and Napa Valley, California. Since the movie is a romantic comedy, producer Michael Swanson and writer-director Christine Swanson, a married team, decided to begin principal photography on February 14th, Valentine’s Day.

  • Actress-director-producer-choreographer Debbie Allen was impressed with the Swansons’ previous film work and signed on to join the All About You cast before even reading the screenplay. Debbie has been a great supporter and mentor.

  • Rickey Minor produced each original song performed in All About You. Rickey was Whitney Houston’s musical director for 18 years and has worked with everyone from Luther Vandross, Mariah Carey and Stevie Wonder to Yolanda Adams, Sting and Patti LaBelle.

  • The Swansons discovered that Christine was pregnant with their first child one day before the start of principal photography. They decided not to mention this new development until after filming was complete. Christine directed the entire movie while pregnant.

  • Actress-singer-songwriter, Renée Elise Goldsberry, who plays the lead character Nicole, wrote the film’s title song, “All About You,” the film’s final song, “Surprise,” as well as “Simple” and the emotionally riveting song, “Soon.” Renée has starred on Broadway as Nala in the Tony Award-winning musical, The Lion King, and currently stars on ABC's "One Life to Live" as Evangeline Williamson.

  • The following recording artists expressed their desire to secure the role of Brian: Brian McKnight, Lenny Kravitz, Eric Benét, Tony Rich, Kevon Edmonds and Ginuwine and four of the six members of Take 6. Terron Brooks won the role after a very lengthy casting process.

  • That is the actual singing voice of Terron Brooks, who plays Brian, over each of his character’s songs (Terron also sang his own songs when he portrayed Eddie Kendricks in The Temptations movie). Terron was packed and ready to star in the Broadway musical Jesus Christ Superstar but passed on Broadway when he was offered the role of Brian. Terron won the role of Simba in the Tony Award-winning production of The Lion King on Broadway immediately after All About You wrapped production.

  • The roles of Toomie and Tim were each re-cast one day before they were scheduled to be filmed. Lou Myers (Toomie) and Rockmond Dunbar (Tim) stepped up to the challenge of filling these roles at the last minute with ease and excellence. Rockmond is now one of the stars of Showtime’s hit drama series, Soul Food.

  • Jazz great Gerald Albright plays the saxophone solo in the beautiful instrumental version of the title song, “All About You” (over that very important scene).
